Mathematical relationships based on material balance and rate equations have been derived for the study of ion exchange kinetics in a fixed‐bed operation. Numerical techniques for the solution of the systems possessing equilibrium relationships of the Freundlich‐adsorption isotherm type have been developed, and numerical results have been obtained with the use of a digital computer. The resulting numerical solutions have been found to be dependent on parameters involving time, position, and the relative resistances of the liquid and resion phases. The numerical solutions are presented in both tabular and graphical forms.
