Bilayered nanostructured V 2 O 5 · n H 2 O is one of the few insertion materials able to reversibly intercalate mono‐ and multivalent cations. Therefore, V 2 O 5 · n H 2 O is particularly attractive for the development of post Li‐ion batteries based on multi‐electron reactions. In article number 1600868, Stefano Passerini and Arianna Moretti describe the research progress over the last 30 years on the use of this versatile material as electrode for rechargeable batteries.
