A hydroxylated graphene–S nanocomposite exhibiting superior electrochemical performance at high rates is developed through a facile chemical deposition method at room temperature. The hydroxyl groups in graphene can interact with the sulfur‐containing compounds, rendering sulfur in the amorphous state during the chemical deposition reaction and preventing polysulfide dissolution during cycling.
