A new insertion anode material , Li 3 VO 4 , is reported for lithium ion batteries. It shows both a larger reversible capacity (323 mAh g −1 ) and a lower insertion voltage (0.5∼1.0 V vs. Li/Li + ) thus can promise higher energy density than the typical insertion anode of Li 4 Ti 5 O 12 .
