In article number 2004250, Stefan Giselbrecht, Erik Vrij, and co‐workers present an overview of developmental gaps in the generation of current stem cell‐based embryo models along the embryonic timeline. The article also provides potential strategies for filling these gaps in the future using micro‐ and bio‐engineering approaches to better reproduce natural embryonic development with key spatial and temporal features.
