A visible light photocatalytic arylation–lactonization sequence has been developed for the synthesis of γ,γ‐disubstituted butyrolactones. This unprecedented transformation features simple experimental procedures under very mild conditions. A one‐step synthesis of isobenzofuran‐1(3 H )‐one has been carried out to demonstrate the synthetic application of this reaction.
