A commercial tetravalent chromium dioxide (Magtrieve TM ) as a magnetically retrievable oxidant is shown to be a very useful compound for microwave‐assisted and conventional transformation of aromatic and alkyl aromatic molecules into the corresponding aryl ketones, quinones or lactones.
