Photorefractive polymers sensitized by gold nanoparticles and core–shell quantum dots are developed. The discovered plasmonic coupling effect under femtosecond beam illumination enables sub‐wavelength‐scale refractive index modulation with an enhanced strength for new types of light‐addressable phase modulators.
