In article number 2000060, Julia Nette, Philip D. Howes and Andrew J. deMello review recent innovations in automated microfluidic reactors for the synthesis of fluorescent and plasmonic nanoparticles. The integration of optical detection techniques, in unity with the high level of control microfluidic reactors, allows for reaction parameter screening and real‐time reaction optimization. Here, the implementation of smart control algorithms shows great potential for advanced applications.
