Nacre‐like ternary hybrid films : 1D cellulose nanofibers have been introduced into the binary chitosan‐clay system to form nacre‐like ternary hybrid films (see Figure). The introduction of 1D cellulose nanofibers can dramatically improve the mechanical properties of these hybrid films including strength, toughness, and hardness due to the interlocked effect of cellulose nanofibers in the layered structure.
