A photocurrent density of 2.97 mA cm −2 for oxygen evolution based on BiOI/TiO 2 nanocomposites is achieved. The significant enhancement of performance is ascribed to the enhanced incident photon to current conversion efficiency in the visible region and the reduced charge recombination.
