Self‐toughening composites of a rigid matrix polymer and microcapsules filled with a plasticizer are reported by Christoph Weder and co‐workers in article number 1807212 . While the neat polymer (right side) is brittle and fractures upon mechanical impact, the composite is deformed, because the microcapsules rupture and release their plasticizing cargo, and this toughens the polymer.
