On page 1129, K. Kusada and H. Kitagawa present a review of recent work on phase‐controlled nanoparticles (NPs), including “novel solid‐solution alloy” NPs and “crystal structure controlled” NPs, newly discovered by chemical synthesis. These materials exhibit enhanced properties different from conventional materials because of their crystal and electronic structures, which are unobtainable in the bulk state. Phase‐controlled synthesis will provide us more undiscovered materials and can be a new strategy to create advanced materials in the near future.
