Laser pyrolyzed SnO 2 nanoparticles with an option of nitrogen (N) doping are prepared using a cost‐effective method. The electrochemical performance of N‐doped samples is tested for the first time in Li‐ion batteries where the sample with 3% of N‐dopant exhibits optimum performance with a capacity of 522 mAh g active material −1 that can be obtained at 10 A g −1 (6.7C).
