A NaYF 4 host matrix with a new cubic phase is fabricated to offer high upconversion luminescence efficiency. The new cubic phase is formed through a hexagonal‐to‐cubic phase transition by shining intense near‐infrared light on lanthanide‐doped hexagonal NaYF 4 materials.
