Real‐time, sensitive and specific analysis of gene transcription: The interactions between promoter and RNA polymerase that lead to gene transcription are monitored using Rayleigh light scattering of gold nanoparticle. We can simply detect which base pair of point‐mutated promoter is important for the specific recognition by RNA polymerase. This is the first attempt to analyze transcription activity, based on the optical property of single gold nanoparticle.
