Mesoporous carbon with homogeneously dispersed multi‐walled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) are synthesized via a one‐step “brick and mortar” soft‐templating approach. Nanocomposites exhibit a reversible lithium storage capacity of 900 mA h g −1 and a good rate performance. Such homogeneous nanocomposites are ideal candidates for electric vehicle applications where high power and energy density are primary requirements.
