Well‐faceted MgO nanorods synthesized by the thermal evaporation of Mg 3 N 2 are sheathed with TiO 2 , resulting in ultraintense blue‐green luminescence. Intense emissions with a variety of wavelengths, ranging from the ultraviolet to the infrared, may be possible by sheathing MgO nanorods with a semiconducting material of optimal thickness.
