A lithium‐fluorohectorite was prepared and tested in respect to its performance as a barrier‐forming material. To emphasize the supremacy of this material as compared to commercially available clays like Cloisite Na + , Optigel SH, or Microlite 963, we determined the oxygen transmission of binderless clay‐films. Furthermore, special emphasis was placed on optical transparency.
