Double‐walled SnO 2 nano‐cocoons with movable α‐Fe 2 O 3 cores have been prepared by hydrothermal shell‐by‐shell deposition of polycrystalline SnO 2 on ellipsoidal α‐Fe 2 O 3 /SiO 2 core/shell nanotemplates followed by removal of SiO 2 . The present templating approach also leads to two other nano‐architectures, namely single‐walled and porous double‐shelled nano‐cocoons. The α‐Fe 2 O 3 cores can be reduced to magnetic Fe 3 O 4 post‐synthesis.
