The coupling of quantum dots on carbon nanotubes was materialized based on a novel plasma surface polymerization. The quantum dot activated carbon nanotubes exhibited intense visible light emissions in both fluorescent spectroscopy and in vivo imaging. This novel nano scale design can be used as an effective biomarker for applications in the cancer diagnosis and treatment.
