Er 3+ ‐doped LiNbO 3 microtubes have been prepared by the infiltration of ordered macroporous silicon with Er:LiNbO 3 melts (see Figure). The microtubes consist of single‐crystalline segments and exhibit the characteristic photoluminescence of Er 3+ , which coincides with the transmittance maximum of silica‐based optical components.
