A facile approach to chemisorbed thin films of functionalized polythiophene on a glass surface (see Figure) via treatment of modified glass surfaces with a solution of the polymer is reported. Evidence for the presence of a thin polymer film is presented and the morphology investigated by atomic force microscopy. The thin films synthesized in this manner are resistant to dissolution, even in boiling solvents.
