A new class of π‐conjugated organometallic conducting polymers has recently been prepared making use of a novel polymerization method, metallocycling polymerization (MCP). The polymers has been found to have small band gaps and exhibit low ionization potentials. MCP is generally utilizable for complex polymers irrespective of whether they are π‐conjugated systems. The method and the new materials are presented.
