The output power, efficiency, and beam quality of high‐powerd Nd: YAG lasers can be improved by employing a device configuration which improves pumping efficiency. By locating the pumping source within the cavity of a tube laser, the pumping radiation is forced to pass through the crystal more effectively thus increasing efficiency.
