Quasicrystalline structures exhibit long‐range orientational order without translational periodicity and as a result have been found to exhibit a number of unusual properties. The AlCuFe alloys highlighted here, for example, have very high resistivities which are in the rangre of what would be expected for heavily ddoped semiconductors on the metallic side of a metal–insulator transition. The materials and their properties are discussed.
