New end‐capped oligothiophenes (see figure) have been synthesized via nickel‐catalyzed Grignard cross‐coupling reaction. Dueto the reactive positions in the terminal thiophene units being blocked it is possible to accurately characterize the spectroscopic and electrochemical properties of the materials. Estimation of the properties of an 'ideal' polythiophene consisting of 'infinite' chains can be made via extrapolation.
