Communication: The covalent and homogeneous incoporation of fluorophores (coumarin dyes) into Langmuir‐Blodgett films of amphiphilic polymethacrylates is reported. Method for optimizing the flourescence and quality of the films, which have potential applications in biosensing, are discussed and the properties of an amphiphilec, monomeric coumarin which forms mixed monolayers with other aphiphiles described.
