Many areas of metallurgy and engineering have benefited through European cooperations set up under the Cooperation in Scientific and Technical Research (COST) program. Those sections of the program of relevance to materials scientists which include aspects of power engineering, corrosion, powder engineering, corrosion, powder metallurgy, rapid solidification and alloyus, are described and reviewed.
