The performance of solid state batteries which employ conducting polymers as electrodes can be enhanced by the substitution of polyether chains onto the polymer backbone. The synthesis of pyrrole substituted in this manner (see Figure) is reported and the redox characteristics of the polymer based on this starting block described.
