Corneas In article number 2100972, Stefan Giselbrecht and colleagues review existing approaches for bioengineering corneal stromal constructs. There is a high demand for bioengineered corneal constructs to overcome a global donor shortage, but unfortunately many of these bioengineered constructs fail clinical trials due to poor biomechanical performance. This review emphasizes the need to more critically design and analyze these properties in future stromal constructs.
