The decoration of 1D ordered mesoporous nanorods with ultrathin 2D nanoplates (consisting of MoS 2 or MnO 2 ) is reported by J. Zhang, Q. Xu, and S. Guo on page 7766. The material exhibits improved catalysis of the hydrogen evolution reaction and increases the performance of asymmetric supercapacitors.
