Three types of Ni8W/Ni12W/Ni8W composite substrates with different layer thickness ratios are thoroughly investigated. A composite substrate with a 1:2:1 thickness ratio is found to be more appropriate for application because of its sharper cube texture, better mechanical strength, and lower magnetization. To overcome cracking and fracture during cold rolling, hot rolling is sometimes conducted before cold rolling. A second step in the annealing process is researched comprehensively to fabricate a 121‐composite substrate with a sharper cube texture. A nearly non‐ferromagnetic 121‐Ni8W/Ni12W/Ni8W composite substrate with a sharp cube texture and strong mechanical strength is successfully fabricated.
