The authors present a generalizable framework to assess the intrinsic property of shape memory polymers that governs the response actuation rate. The validity of the framework is demonstrated by using microfluidic 3D printed thermo‐responsive shape memory structures as test devices. This framework can provide forward guidance when engineering future materials capable of rapid physical actuation for soft robotic and medical device applications.
