Among other ceramic materials carbon bonded alumina is used for the production of ceramic filters. The ceramic filters are utilized for the filtration of metal melts. A new generation of ceramic filters made of carbon bonded alumina has been developed.[1][M. Emmel, 2012] The aim of the study presented in this paper is the determination of mechanical parameters of the carbon bonded alumina. The investigations are carried out in order to evaluate the influence of the modified coal tar pitch powder (Cabores® P) content on the mechanical behavior. The parameters are determined by means of the Small Punch Test (SPT).
