Characterization of the drying process of porous asphalt (PA) is done using neutron radiography; showing that drying of PA follows two distinct phases with a first more rapid moisture loss followed by a slower moisture loss in presence of disconnected fluid pockets. Moisture content distribution would not be obtainable with traditional methods such as recording the mass versus time.
