An experimental setup has been developed to measure fully‐coupled kinematic and thermal fields at a very fine resolution matching the microstructure size of a heat‐treated austenitic stainless steel. In this study, this setup is used in order to investigate the heterogeneous behavior of a polycrystalline material under cyclic loading, as far as the local strain and temperature data are concerned.
