Coating of metallic implants with CaP is a common method of improving osseointegration of the device. In this study Ca(OH) 2 coatings are analyzed combining the advantage of initial bacteriocidity with–after conversion of the hydroxide to hydroxyapatite in physiological media–good osteoconductivity.
