Patterning techniques represent important tools for the fabrication of functional surfaces. We report the fabrication of periodic arrays on large areas using the Direct Laser Interference Patterning (DLIP) method. The laser ablation of different polymeric substrates has been studied to develop mathematical models to describe the periodic laser ablation. Thermal analyses of the studied polymers permitted to measure the thermal properties of the polymers for the thermal simulations.
