Nano‐structured Al 2 O 3 ‐Ni composites have been prepared by SPS. Measured and predicted (dashed line) hardness values are plotted as function of the Ni content in the adjoining graph. The solid line represents the expected hardness according to the rule of mixing. The composite containing 2.5 vol% Ni exhibited excellent wear properties.
