This paper investigates the dynamic recrystallization behavior of a directionally solidified (DS) nickel‐base superalloy. The dynamic recrystallization occurs after the uncoated superalloy has been tested by tensile creep at elevated temperature for a long time. The dynamic recrystallization temperature is slightly lower than that of the static recrystallization. The dynamic recrystallization behavior of the DS superalloy below the static recrystallization temperature is mainly related to the high temperature oxidation and the free surface.
