Specific criteria for selection of solute atoms and composition are formulated and used to prepare a series of Ce–Al–(Cu,Ni) amorphous alloys by melt‐spinning. The effect of alloy compositions on the thermal behaviour of the amorphous ribbons is characterized in order to evaluate their glass forming ability.
