The predictive modelling of precipitation in steels and aluminium alloys in the solid state, based on the physical understanding of its mechanisms were the major goal of this CPR project. Wrought heat treatable aluminium alloys as well as cold and hot rolled steels are of utmost importance for applications (transportation, electrical applications, building, sport and leisure, etc.) requiring high property (e.g. mechanical strength, electrical conductivity, magnetic properties) to weight ratios.
