The paper relates aspects of interfaces, residual stresses and dislocations with joint behaviour in the Ni–based single crystals. It is focused on the understanding the fundamental driving forces and response of the materials which leads to the formation of dislocation structure during local melting and solidification. Oscillations in the dislocation structure are observed at both macro and micro scales. The underlying mechanism of these processes is essential to real world applications.
