Thinking in terms of efficiency, the reduction of the sintering temperature of the electrolyte layer by the use of nanocrystallized zirconia could be a helpful tool to establish the technique of solid oxide fuel cells. For this reason two different nanosized starting materials were investigated. Coating experiments with these materials revealed the necessity to incorporate non‐nanosized material to avoid a formation of cracks during drying or sintering.
