Nanolithography techniques using a scanning probe microscopy have recently attracted much attention. Here, the fabrication of magnetic nanostructures, and modification of their electrical and magnetic properties are introduced. Advantages of lateral structures for magnetic devices fabricated by the nanolithography using an atomic force microscopy are discussed. In order to develop these spin‐related devices, control of magnetic domains in nanoscale ferromagnetic materials is significant. Experimental results on the direct modification of magnetic domain structures in Co nanostructures by the nanolithography are lastly described.
