Subject of the investigations is the manufacturing and performance of a compound drilling tool consisting of a cemented carbide shank combined with a ceramic cutting edge (Si 3 N 4 ). The developed drilling tools makes it possible to take advantage of technical ceramics properties for small diameter drilling operations.
