The covalent character of the high performance ceramics used for the fabrication of MMC preforms demands high sintering temperatures to guarantee sufficient interconnection between powder particles. To minimize this cost‐intensive sintering step, several preceramic polymers suitable for binding MMC preform particles were tested with a view to obtaining strong and machinable materials with tailored porosity.
