A metal matrix composite with spectacular properties has been synthesized: high thermal conductivity, stiffness, good machinability, low toxicity and high radiation transparency are the outstanding features that characterize the orthotropic magnesium‐carbon composite presented in this article. The Figure shows a cross‐sectional optical image of the material.
