Fundamental structural features of alloys have a large influence on their stability towards cavitation‐erosion, a process caused by implosion of bubbles in fluids next to a surface. CuZnAl alloys and manganese bronzes of austenitic or martensitic nature were subjected to cavitation‐erosion conditions at ambient and lowered temperature (see Figure for a martensitic CuZnAl alloy before and after exposure). The austenitic alloys appear to be of higher stability.
